Lucy Simpson is a Sydney based Yuwaalaraay woman, and a process-led designer-maker who explores notions of time and place through materiality and visual narratives, which record and communicate experience and story. Lucy established studio and textiles label Gaawaa Miyay in 2009.
Lucy has exhibited her works at the London Design Festival in 2010 and also at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Primavera exhibition of Young Australian Artists in 2015. She was named an honouree of Australian design by the Australian Design Centre in 2016.
She continues today to work as a consultant and educator through Gaawaa Miyay. Major projects include work with Westpac, Qantas, Lend Lease, Sydney Festival and Ausgri. She is currently collaborating projects for the City of Sydney, Urban Art Projects, the Powerhouse Museum and Planex. Lucy is set to release new textiles and interior ranges under her label this October-November
